Gauff returns to final after last year’s defeat Third seed Gauff beat Romania’s Sorana Cirstea 6-4, 6-3 to move into the final for the second year in a row. Cirstea, seeded 26th, had drawn attention earlier in the tournament after knocking out top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the third round, but Gauff kept control of the semifinal and closed out the match in straight sets.
