Edge of Memories Interview: The NieR, Xenoblade, and Chrono Trigger Talent Behind Its Ambitious Soundtrack

Edge of Memories is quickly becoming one of the more interesting RPGs on the horizon. Following the recent announcement of a free Steam demo launching June 15, players will soon get a chance to experience the opening chapter of Midgar Studio’s next project before its planned 2026 release. The action RPG returns to the universe of Edge of Eternity, taking players back to the continent of Avaris with a new cast, real-time combat, and a darker story centered on the mysterious Corrosion. Alongside its shift in gameplay, the project has attracted an impressive group of creators from across the RPG genre, including Chrono Trigger composer Yasunori Mitsuda, NieR vocalist and lyricist Emi Evans, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 composer and arranger Mariam Abounnasr, and lead composer Cédric Menendez.
